william wintersPump up your fist If you twist like this 'Til the lights go out Bring 'em out! William scratched the back of his head as he walked to the front steps. He would have been bouncing, but he just got back from hockey practice, and it had been extra rough today. He was a little sore, which sucked for him because he hated not bouncing. But you could tell he didn't care too much because he still had the huge goofy grin on his face that he always had. He was attired in a brown jacket and blue jeans that were rather worn out and frayed, and a brown beanie hat that pushed the remains of his fauxhawk down and hid it from view. He had his hands in his pockets and was whistling one of his own songs while he walked to the steps, bobbing his head to the song in his head.
He skipped a little when he reached them, glad he'd made it out of the school or at least to the front steps, finally. Instead of hurrying back to his dorm, he just plopped down on the steps, wincing a little as his butt hit the hard floor harder than he'd anticipated. But he soon got over it, and brought his knees around and put his arms around them, looking around at the people gossiping all around him. He himself wasn't much of a gossiper, but when there was nothing else to do, he'd listen just because. It wasn't like they were hiding it, right? They were talking pretty loud, anyway. So he listened, halfheartedly, but abruptly quit when they got to the gory details, curling his lip.
How could someone so cute and little be so.. gross? He wondered as he looked back over at the freshmen girls, bouncing up and down even as he sat, out of pure habit. He chewed on his lip, careful not to clamp down on his lip ring, because he'd done that many times lately and it was finally healing. Then he decided it was probably a good idea to just stop before he hurt himself again and bounced harder. Boy, he was bored...

Dakota had deicided to hit the tracks instead of going to see Will practice. He never really met the guy, just wrote a note back and forth to him. But he seemed like an interesting guy so Dakota planned on meeting him face to face. He remembered what he looked at least and was thankful about that. His legs were slightly bothering him from the 5 mile run he did. His hair was still damp from the shower and his back seemed to me the most sore. He cracked his back, not really making it any better with his bag with a few books and his laptop. His phone had been ringing a lot, his guardian and his counselor trying to contact him. He was soo tired of seeing their numbers.
Sad though, how he only had two people ever making his phone go crazy. He was kinda tired of it. Cell phones were used for friends but Dakota didn't really have any. Letting out a sigh he made his way to school, wanting to put some things away in his locker. What made him stop was seeing Will near the top of the stairs. He hated waalking through groups of people as he started, hearing their words as he walked by. He didn't really pay attention, hell some even whistled at him. He had gotten used to it. He saw Will as he moved closer and let a small smile cross his lips. He lifted his hand and waved. He wore a long sleeved tan shirt with a brown formal yet casual jacket. Brown swede shoes yet again and khakits.
He sat down on the stair one lower thatn Will's and placed his bag down. Hey Will. How was practice? He knew Will hadn't heard his voice before, but with his highlander Scottish accent, it was slightly hard to understand at first. But his two years in America helped it a bit. [/size]

william wintersPump up your fist If you twist like this 'Til the lights go out Bring 'em out! Will only just happened to look up after examining his nails like they were the most interesting thing in the world when he noticed Dakota wave at him. Or, he was pretty sure he was Dakota because that was who he looked like, and from just meeting him through notes he didn't seem like the kind of guy who would just wave at random people, like Will himself. His lips spread into a wide smile, and his arm shot up into the air as he waved back enthusiastically, even though he still wasn't quite sure this was the same guy. He was pretty sure it was, though, when he sat down in front of him and started to talk.
Duuuuuude! He's got an accent?! Was the first thing he thought, and he gaped at him until he realized what he had said. "It was cool." He grinned, his knee still bouncing like crazy. He didn't want to scare the kid off but he was dying of curiosity.. so he asked anyway. "Dude, where're you from?!" He blurted finally, tilting his head to the side. As his parents were in the acting business, when he was about ten or eleven he had heard a few people with similar accents, but he just couldn't place his finger on where it was from.
Now that he thought about it, he figured the kid got that question a lot. But... it was going to drive him crazy until he figured it out! So.. he waited, rather impatiently, for the junior to reply. Maybe he made him mad.. but maybe not. Either way.... Will was getting bored again. But it didn't take much for him to get bored, and it didn't take much to occupy his time, either, so when he stuck his hands in his pockets and drew out a paper clip, his lips took the familiar "O" shape that they took many times in a day and then closed abruptly as he stared at the thing and twisted it around while still kind of listening, just in case.

Dakota smiled a bit but seemed to be shocked when he asked where he was from. It wasn't the question that shocked him, it was the way he, well exclaimed it with such enthusaticness. He let out a small chuckle and got a bit more comfortable. The highlands of Scotland. Though if you would have meet me a two years ago it would have been stronger. I've been living here for two years so it's gone down a bit. He chuckled. and brought out his laptop as he opened it. He wasn't really sure what to talk about really.
He looked up to Will as he typed in something and pulled a few screens up. It was of his book he was currently writing. He looked up at him and frowned a little. Hey sorry I wasn't able to make it..My legs got restless and so I took a run and did a bit of work out. He decided to move next to Will as he pulled up a few pictures. This is my album of my home...You can take a look if you want. He said, holding the laptop up and offering it to Will to take.

william wintersPump up your fist If you twist like this 'Til the lights go out Bring 'em out! When Dakota told him he was from Scotland, for the second time his mouth dropped open. He'd always wanted to go to Scotland! Well, he wanted to go all over the world but Scotland was a part of all over the world. "That's so cooool!" He said, grinning enthusiastically, now forgotten all about the paperclip he still held in his hand. Then he noticed it and stuck it back in his pocket so he could have it for later use. He blankly stared at the computer screen, not really even looking at what the kid was pulling up.
Then Dakota started talking again and he jumped a little in surprise. Truth be told, he had forgotten he was even supposed to be coming to the practice as soon as he walked out of class. "Huh? Oh! That's okay." He said, waving his hand to signify it really didn't matter, because honestly, it didn't. To be completely blunt, he didn't care if someone came to watch him practice as long as they didn't distract him so he didn't run into the wall more than often.
He was rubbing his sore arm because he didn't know what else to do and was staring off into space wondering if he had any cheese puffs at his dorm when once again, he was brought back to Earth by Dakota. He only heard the end of the sentence, take a look if you want, and was offered his laptop. Kind of confused but not entirely showing it, he took the laptop and looked. There were pictures of what he correctly guessed to be Scotland and he stared, enraptured. It was so.. pretty. He had never awoken to something like that. It was always highways and things like that for him, California was so... broadcasted, if that was even the right word. For once, he was struck dumb.

Dakota was smiling at Will's enthusiastic reply when he noted where he was in fact from. He felt a bit better in Will's company and didn't really feel like he was an outsider. Will's zoning out a bit made him smile more, even chuckle slightly. When he felt Will take his laptop he rested his hands in his lap, watching as he went through the pictures he had taken back home. He remembered catching the moments of people too, girls dancing in the streets, guys playing different types of sports. There was the one picture overlooking the cliff into the ocean. He stopped Will from continuing on as he pointed to the screen.
I actually took that from my balcony. He noted, letting him continue. There were a few other pictures, capturing emotions of different people, like his lawyers, his guardian and child care providers in the next 14 pictures. He had caught them in an agrument and decided to take pictures, to hold the emotion in the still screen. It wasn't that Dakota wanted to remember, he just found so much anger, confusion and pride in each one of the pictures that it brought the characters of the people he knew. After those it was of the town, the buildings, the people. A few of the people even posed for him.
But Dakota blushed slightly when the last bit of the pictures were of him. It had him smiling, still running in the yard with three wolfdogs at his heels. He remembered when Jared had taken these pictures. He went to go visit his home last summer and took these. Another was him throwing a ball for the dogs. Few were of him wrestling them down to the ground. But what really made Dakota look away were the last five. It had been Jared's birthday and they had slammed a few pies in face. Of course there was a good picture of Jared getting him right in the face. the last one in the file was a close up of Jared, a much older man but not noticable with the cream on his face from the pie and Dakota, face also covered as he was licking the cream off his cheek and the older man was laughing.

william wintersPump up your fist If you twist like this 'Til the lights go out Bring 'em out! As he looked through the pictures, enraptured, he wondered if Dakota knew all of the people he took pictures of, or just took them randomly. Because, maybe it was just him, but Dakota didn't really seem like the kind of guy who knew that many people. He was too stiff... he needed to loosen up a lot. More like Will himself! But Dakota probably didn't want to be like him, he mused, lots of people seemed to be afraid of him. He couldn't imagine why.. he was just being friendly, what was there to be afraid of, right?
He paused when Dakota pointed to the screen, and stuck his face up close to look at it better. Woah, he thought. I wanna live somewhere like that! Not that he didn't like the city, he just always wanted to go somewhere like that... it seemed so peaceful and quiet. Somewhere he would have enjoyed going with his brother, when he was alive. He pushed the thoughts of him out of his mind, however, for the time being and continued scrolling down slowly to look at all of the pictures.
The kid was a good photographer, he'd give him that. Either that, or photography just looked better when everyone else did it. It wasn't that Will was a bad photographer or anything.. he just always accidentally zoomed in and couldn't figure out how to zoom it back out. But then he never listened to the instructions, so you couldn't say it wasn't his own fault.
Then he got to the pictures of Dakota himself, and leaned back again, because it was kind of weird to be inches away from the screen when there was a guy up there. He tilted his head to the side. It was weird, he'd never seen Dakota so... happy looking. Though he hadn't known him long or anything. The dogs looked cool, and so did the guy with pie on his face. He grinned and looked up over to Dakota, but he was looking away. His grin turned down at the corners and he looked back to the screen. What was his problem? He looked back, and closed the laptop. "Was that your dad?" He asked as he handed it back.
So, Will didn't have any much experience with fathers, but he could still imagine someone having a bonding relationship with them. It sounded hard, but not impossible. It wasn't his fault his father didn't ever... love him. It was the fame that went to his head, and little things like that. Maybe Dakota just missed his dad.. maybe not.

Dakota didn’t look because he missed him. To look at Jared would make him want to call him. But Dakota was more of a face to face person. He hated talking over the phone to someone he held so close. When Will asked if that was his dad he turned maybe a bit to quickly and seemed to, glare. He hissed through his teeth. My father’s dead. Good ridence.. He said, a bit to harshly. He didn’t want to scare him too bad as he turned and rubbed his face a bit and sighed. Sorry…No..He’s not my dad. He’s my guardian. Sometimes I wish I was his biological kid. He did a lot of things for me… Which was all true. Dakota loved Jared as he would a father, not his of course. Dakota only knew that love that he shared with him. He smiled and leaned his head on his hand as the elbow rested on the knee. That was his birthday last year His other hand took the laptop and placed it on his backpack on the ground before him. Since he’s birthday is near thanksgiving I’ll be leaving around that time to go back home to Scotland to celebrate it again.
Dakota leaned up and glanced back at Will. You know if you want to experience first hand I don’t mind taking you. It’s something everyone should experience in their life. With your energy I think you’d enjoy it a lot. Dakota didn’t mind offering to take him. After all it was actually in his nature to offer trips to others that couldn’t afford it. He bent over to put his laptop in his backpack then left it at his feet. He was slightly curious now, even though the topic of ‘Fathers’ wasn’t his favorite it was still a topic. Maybe Will didn’t have one, or if he did how did it feel to have one. It were questions like these that made him wonder. ..What about you…with your dad.. He asked, a bit softly.

william wintersPump up your fist If you twist like this 'Til the lights go out Bring 'em out! Will was a little surprised at the hostility that Dakota showed when he mentioned his father. Honestly, William didn't like his dad any more than he liked sticking his head in a toilet and flushing it, but he would probably be at least a little sad if he died. It wasn't like the man had abused him physically or anything, but it seemed to him that ignoring your child and only having him come along for publicity stunts was pretty much emotional damage, right? Maybe it was just him. He continued to bounce his leg and was actually quiet for a minute as he mused over his memories with his father.
He said nothing, but only nodded knowingly when Dakota apologized and continued to speak. He was only half listening when he started talking about birthdays, thinking halfheartedly, I love birthdays.. He only looked up when Dakota looked over to him and invited him to join him to his guardian's birthday in November. He grinned, but his eyes showed that he was still thinking about his father with a somber look to them. "Sure, I've got nowhere else to go." He said truthfully, shrugging. It wasn't like he couldn't afford it or anything, with parents as rich as his, and it wasn't like they cared if he lived or died. After all, they hadn't even come to his brother's funeral.
When Dakota asked him about his own father, he shrugged. What father? Was his first bitter thought. "We were never.. close. He never even tried." He said tonelessly, staring at the ground again. "But anyway, it doesn't matter." He shook himself out of the shlump and cracked his knuckles, looking back up.

Dakota was making sure he took in Will's body language as he spoke to him. He was noticing the jumping leg and the distance eyes when the topic of 'father' was on subject. When he heard his answer Dakota didn't push. It wasn't like his father tried, hell he wished he would have just ignored him. But he couldn't always get what he wanted. Letting out a hushed sigh, his eyes hitting the ground until he heard Will crack his knuckles. Doing the same he moved his attention back up, not dwelling on the thoughts. Seems we have that in common... He said in another hushed tone. He wanted to get off the subject as much as Will did probably. But what to talk about?
It wasn't like Dakota to ask what someone was doing that following weekend. His weekends were usually him in his room and not coming out. He needed to change that. What are you doing this weekend? He asked, changing the subject and actually hoping to see the Will he had first met. Though he was an active guy and very much the opposite of Dakota himself, he liked having someone like that. Dakota felt like he could open himself up with his personality.
