Morning, he hated mornings. Jared had already lectured him about getting home late but Dakota just took it. He didn't want to remember that night, nothing about that night. He wore his hoodie this time and shield his face as he walked to the public library. He was running out of books to read and it was bothering him. He had his back pack on his one shoulder. He wore torn blue jeans at the knees and biker boots. His eyes watched the ground as he made it up the stairs and into the main doors.
When he first moved to America, he made sure he got a library card so that he could check out multiple books at a time. He wasn't a fan of reading in public places. He looked up as the clerk greeted him, he just nodded and walked to the historical. He knew a lot about his own country but wanted to learn more about the one he now lived in. After two years of reading he still had a lot to learn with the changing places of America. He placed his bag down on a nearby table and uncovered his head. His hair was a bit messy and he seemed to not have that much sleep.
Letting out a tiredsome breath he began to look at the different books, seeing a few on the cold war, world war 2 and 1. He continued his search, grabbing a few books here and there. He got about 5 of them, all weighing about 15 lbs together. He placed them on the table and sat down. The library was slightly emptied today so he wasn't worried about being bothered today. Not like he ever was. People never really confronted him because of his dress and the vibes he let off. Dakota enjoyed the privacy a bit too much sometimes.

The library. It was a quiet space. And it gave her a little breathing room. In the sense that it was quiet. Which was something the firey redhead always enjoyed. And yet to her, silence was horrible. But, it was the fact that the library was crammed with crazy teenagers that made her enjoy it. Scout O'Connell was sucked into her music, earbuds tightly screwed into her ears, just low enough to not disturb anyone. The libranian, whom kinda knew Scout, I mean, who could forget a girl with hair like hers? But, the librarian nodded in greeting, and the girl went on her way, swerving through the shelves.
Technically, she should've gotten some school books. But, the junior was a fiction fiend. The cutesy fictional romance books were a particular favorite. Not like she'd actually admit to this. She just came every so often, to check out books, leave, and read. But, with nothing better to do, a hand reached up and pulled a few books out, before she headed right for the tables. Her eyes followed each table, all empty. The song changed, and her converse clad foot began tapping. She would tend to do that, tap her foot like that, when there was a song with a good tempo on.
She saw someone at one of the tables, and studied him. Scout took slow steps, passing his table, still studying his figure, until she turned, trying not to seem like a creeper. He looked...familiarish. Maybe they had classes together or something? Scout took a seat at the next table over, opening the book while she thought. Who was it? This question would eat at her until she figured it out. It was horrible. Why did she feel like she'd seen him before? A hand ran through her hair as she averted her eyes from him to the book. No need to scare the shit outta the poor guy.

Dakota was deep into his own book, groaning as he hit something he found not worth knowing, closing the book and setting it aside. His mind was hurting, another headache was creeping up. He pulled his backpack to him and opened his small pocket and pulled out some advil, dry swallowing 2 tablets. He hated the slight taste they gave him but he jut cringed his nose at it. Something caught his attention though, a feeling. A feeling of eyes that watched him. He knew when it was happening. He looked up and around. He noticed someone, a girl looking his way, something made him blush as he grabbed a book quickly and hid his face.
He placed the book a little lower when he heard a chair move from it's spot and see how she took a seat across from him at the table adjacent to him. He placed his book down and looked like he was looking at the book but his eyes were adverted up to look at her. Red fiery hair, and just the look of, well an all-around interesting looking girl. He also though, she was cute. Hell he thought half the people he saw were cute, hot, and gorgeous. He noticed as she looked up and quickly looked down at the book. Civil War. That's what this one was about. But he couldn't focus on it, his eyes moved back to her and saw how her eyes moved down too.
He couldn't take it sometimes, how people stared and he, he was the one that wanted to confront them. It bothered him sometimes how he hated to meet people yet here he was wanting to get up and go over to meet someone. So now, it was decision making. But would he be disturbing her? He didn't want that. The battle ragged in his head as he showed it slightly in his actions. His head was still pounding as he groaned and let it fall into the book. He had been reading too much, he knew it. He then made his decision based purely on instinct. He got up and left his seat, walking straight to her and stopping on the opposite end of the table. He looked at her and let a small smile move to his lips. Hi.....W-would you like to join me? He wanted to hit his head so hard for the most stupidest question he could ever ask. Of course, it wasn't surprising when his accent seemed to be very thick and strong. He was blushing, that was a fact.

He hid his face and Scout's lips curled into a smile. Shy, possibly? It was cute. The redhead let her eyes drift, from the book to the male. Now, if she could put a name to the face, things would be much easier. She stared intently at her book, letting the drum's solo pound along with her head in perfect rhythm. Thump, thump, thump. Perfectly synced. She felt his eyes, staring at her. It was weird, but she felt it. She looked up, and her ewyes darted down almost immeadately. Hm. Okay...so, she recognized him from...Shit. She couldn't think. Maybe school? Yeah! They must've had a few classes together. So...he had to be a junior. Or possibly a senior.
So, there came a question. To approach, or not to approach? She couldn't help but giggle just a little at her own thoughts. She could sit and let her mind wander all day. But, she had to decide. It would be nice to actually talk to him, get a name. Scout look back to Dakota's table, and gave him a smile. Alright, maybe...she would say hi. Just maybe. Scout would just wait for a minute. She was a friendly person, but, in approaching, she kinda got a little scared. It was easier for people to come to her. Unless he turned out to be shy. That'd change everything.
She had managed to flip another page and when she looked up, there was Dakota. Standing there. Scout pulled out a red iPod and placed it on the table, and pressed pause, blinking. "Hi," She smiled. "Uh, sure. If you don't mind." The red-head stood, and offered a hand to him. She noticed his accent. So, he was a transfer. But, his accent seemed cute. "I'm Scout O'Connell. Nice to meet you." She said with a smile, chewing on the inside of her lip. [/blockquote]

Okay, so now he didn't really feel too idiotic. He smiled back at her and hesitated on her hand that was held out to him. He lifted his hand to his chest, thinking, his eyes on her hand then to her face, seeing her smile. He was learning to love her smile, it was so cute, so, refreshing. He decided to go for it, his hand gesture being gentle yet strong. He nodded. ..Same to you..it's Dakota Gairden. But you can call me Kota. It felt good to not have someone there to talk to now. Reading had always calmed him down rather than the medicine given to him by the doctors.
He turned as he let go of her hand and walked back to his table, clearing some room for her. He had noticed her iPod and wondered what music she listened to. It was a decent start of a conversation. ..So..what kinda music do you listen to? He asked, taking a seat as he glanced at his phone and noticed a missed call. Picking it up he saw it was his guardian, wrinkling his nose to wonder why he would be calling him. But it was then that he remembered that he was supposed to call his counselor today...Shit... He growled. (sorry..it's a bit short)

The hand kinda felt awkward, just hanging there. She shook his hand, then slipped out of his grip, picking up her books and iPod, moving to Kota's table. She had managed to kick the chair back into the table and looked back to him. "Kota, huh? I like that name." The girl couldn't help but feel herself grin like an idiot as she pulled out the chair and slid into it. It was nice. Sitting there, talking to someone, instead of the slience that had hovered. She looked down at her little iPod and began to push the forward button, changing the song. She needed to play something that'd keep her in her little rhythmic mood. Hm, the Beatles, maybe? A little old school, but good. "Hm? Oh. I listen to a lot of stuff." She thought for a moment. "I'm listening to The Beatles right now, though. I'm in to some oldies bands." Scout nodded and put her elbow on the table, resting her chin on her fist. "How about you?" The girl shrugged a began to flip back to the page she was on, and looked up when she heard him say shit. "Something wrong?"[/color She asked, curiously. She really shouldn't have asked, but she was curious.
(it's fine, mine's short too, sorry.)

Dakota looked up at her when she mentioned the Beatles. He had only read about them but he didn't really know what they sounded like. I've only heard of them..I myself like hard rock or metal...and my own music from my homeland. He shrugged, looking back at her he put his phone away. ..Oh..it's nothing.. He lied, looking away and grabbing another book, this time about famous African Americas. He then looked to her , watching her ipod. Could I listen? He asked, peering to seem like a curious kitten to know what they in fact sounded like.
He blushed deeply though ,remembering what she said about his name. He never really had a compliment on his name before and that was his first. Problem was, he couldn't stop blushing. He knew why though, it was really his first time blushing in front of another person. He swallowed hard and began to grow a bit hot. But there was no way he would shed his jacket. Not when he wore a sleeveless shirt underneath. He didn't want her to see that, to scare her away. That was the last thing he wanted. He smiled at her, still a slight blush on his cheeks. ..I like yours too...It matches you He said.

She nodded. "They're brilliant." And they really were. She watched him, and pulled out an ear-bud, better to hear him with. She nodded her head and looked down at the book, just shutting it. There was no point. She'd finish them at school. When she had some time. Scout had zoned out for a moment, and once she snapped back to reality, she realized he was looking at her. She took out the other ear bud, placed the left one in her right ear, and offered the other to Kota. Scout noticed his blush and she smiled. He looked so cute when he blushed. The redhead unzipped her hodoie and slipped out of it, draping on the chair "So, where exactly are you from?" She asked curiously. She then drifted her eyes, picking which song she'd introduce him to first. Hm...I Wanna Hold Your Hand always was a good one, but, there was always a chance of sending the wrong message. But, it wasn't like she was sending any messages, was she? Whatever. I Wanna Hold Your Hand woudl suffice. She blushed, cheeks turning red as her hair, when he complimented her name. "Thanks. I like it...even though it's supposed to be a guys' name." She laughed and shrugged. [/blockquote]

Dakota couldn't help but chuckle when she had zoned out for the moment. It was rather adorable actually when she did. He took the earphone smoothly but still couldn't get rid of the blush on his cheeks. He watched as she shed her hoodie off and he was wishing that he could too. He was getting too hot. So he decided to do the next best thing, at least open it. He opened it and let the cool air seep in to help get his flushed cheeks down. When he heard her ask the very common question he always seemed to get, he was kinda happy that it was after a smaller conversation before. The highlands of Scotland. He answered her with a charming smile. He watched her fingers move about on the iPod.
He smiled a bit wider and found himself blushing deeper when he saw her blush at the comment he had given to her on her name. It made her even cutier than before. He laughed with her on her shot back on it being a boy's name. He noticed how the librarian looked their way as he made the 'shhing' motion across his lips but still chuckling as he did so. His eyes turned away from the older woman, landing on Scout again. You're cute when you blush. He found his confidence growing now.
